Property Damage Policy 🔧
Effective October 19, 2026
If we break it, we make it right. Our techs treat your yard like their own, and Captain Scoop is fully insured — but tools, gates, and sprinkler heads live in the real world, and sometimes the real world wins. Here's exactly how we handle it when it does.
The promise
If one of our techs damages your property during a visit — a gate latch, a sprinkler head, a garden border, a decoration — tell us and we'll repair it or reimburse the fair cost of repair or replacement, promptly and without a runaround. For anything beyond a simple fix, our insurance is there; that's what it's for.
How to report
Report damage within 48 hours of the visit, with a photo or two, through any of these: the chat bubble on this site, the Contact Us form, or hello@capnscoop.com. Include your address and the visit date. We'll respond within one business day with next steps — usually that's us just fixing it.
What's covered
- Damage directly caused by our tech or our equipment during a service visit.
- Gate and latch hardware our tech handled that visit.
- Sprinkler heads, lighting, borders, and yard fixtures our tech damaged.
What's not covered
- Pre-existing damage or normal wear and tear (a latch that was already loose, a fence board already cracked).
- Normal foot traffic on grass — walking the yard in a grid is the job.
- Damage reported more than 48 hours after the visit, when it's no longer possible to establish what happened.
- Anything that happened outside a service visit, or weather doing weather things.
About your gate
Gate security is the thing we're most careful about — it's why every visit ends with a photo of your closed, latched gate. That photo is the shared record for both of us: if a gate question ever comes up, we start there.
The spirit of this policy
We'd rather eat the cost of a sprinkler head than lose your trust over one. If something seems off after a visit — even if you're not sure it was us — tell us. Honest questions get honest answers, fast.
Questions? Contact the crew — a real person responds within 24 hours.
