Terms & Conditions
Captain Scoop residential service · Last updated October 26, 2026
These terms cover recurring residential pet-waste removal from Captain Scoop (“Cap'n Scoop,” “we,” “us”). By signing up you agree to them. We wrote them to be read, so they're short.
🐕 Pets during service — the big one
Dogs must be kept inside the house, crated, or on a leash during every cleaning visit.
It keeps your pets and our techs safe, stops anyone slipping out an open gate, and lets the tech sweep every inch of the yard. It applies to every dog, including the friendliest one on the block.
- On your service day, keep dogs in the house, in a crate, or on a leash held by someone, from the start of your service window until the all-clear text arrives.
- If a dog is left out, we won't service the yard, and a trip fee of $8 will be charged. As with any visit we can't complete for a reason on the customer's side, the trip fee covers the trip — the visit itself isn't billed. Our tech won't enter the yard with a loose dog.
- If a dog behaves aggressively toward a tech, we may flag your account for extra precautions, and repeated safety issues may end service.
- Before letting your dogs back out, take a quick look at the gate. We latch it and send a photo of it closed after every visit, but you know your gate best.
The service
Each visit is a full sweep of your back yard (the front yard too with the front-yard add-on). We double-bag every pickup and haul it away with us — included in your price, never left in your trash can. After each visit we latch your gate and send you a photo. Visits follow your plan's schedule; weather or a holiday may move a visit to the next available day.
Access to your yard
You don't need to be home, but we need safe access: leave the gate unlocked on service days, keep your gate code or key location current in your account, or choose to let us in yourself. If we can't get in and can't reach you, the visit is skipped with no service fee, but a trip fee of $8 applies. Grass much taller than about 6 inches hides waste; if it makes a clean sweep impossible, the visit is skipped. The first time is free, and later ones carry the flat $8 fee.
Pricing and billing
- Nothing is charged at signup. Your card goes on file, and completed visits are billed together at the end of each service month. Visits that didn't happen are never charged.
- Prices are per visit, as shown on our pricing at signup, plus applicable sales tax. Every plan includes up to 4 dogs. Each extra dog is $3 per visit, and add-ons are billed on the visits they're performed.
- Your first visit is free when you start recurring service; add-ons on that visit are still charged. If you cancel after the free visit and before your first paid visit, the free visit bills at the standard $49 initial-cleanup rate.
- If service pauses for more than 35 days, the restart visit bills as a $49 yard reset in place of the regular rate.
- Larger-than-standard yards may carry a yard fee. If one applies, we tell you before your first visit, and it stays locked for the life of your subscription.
- If a payment fails, we'll let you know. Service may pause until the balance is settled.
- We may change prices with at least 14 days' notice. Changes apply to visits after the notice period.
Cancelling or pausing
No contracts. Cancel or pause anytime from your account. Any completed, unbilled visits are settled at cancellation. We may end service with notice, for example for repeated safety or access issues or unpaid balances.
Our guarantees
Missed a spot? Our 100% Re-Clean Guarantee covers it (report within 24 hours). If we damage something, our Property Damage Policy explains how we make it right (report within 48 hours). Those pages are part of these terms.
Messages and privacy
We email you about your service and, if you opt in, text you as described in our SMS Terms. How we handle your information is in our Privacy Policy.
Responsibility
We're fully insured and stand behind our work as described above. Beyond that, to the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for harm that results from a dog not being secured as these terms require, a gate opened by someone else after our visit, or conditions in the yard we weren't told about (such as hidden hazards). Please tell us about anything our techs should know.
Changes to these terms
If we update these terms, we'll post the new version here and email active customers about meaningful changes. Continuing service after the change takes effect means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
